Furniture AI exploration
Inspired by the AI research of Stanislas Chaillou, this series begins with an exploration of form through DALL-E-generated images of furniture. These images were analyzed and categorized into six styles, uncovering recurring patterns that served as the foundation for designing five unique pieces of furniture.
Selecting one for it’s construction, the limited access to machinery and resources in the area led to an alternative approach in crafting these pieces, opting for different materials to achieve the same intended form.
The production process began with the creation of a 3D scale model, which provided a deeper understanding of the ergonomics of the volume and facilitated final adjustments to the design. MDF was selected as the primary material for the structure, which was subsequently upholstered to achieve the desired finish.
